Our school has stood in the heart of North Park for over a century and has educated countless generations of San Diegans.

The old school has been replaced and modernized, but it still stands for educational excellence. Our namesake, Thomas Jefferson, would most likely approve of our school becoming an International Baccalaureate program school because Jefferson, as one of America's Founding Fathers and one of the most important revolutionaries in our history, was also a Renassaince man who believed passionately in a well-rounded education.

A Century in North Park by Andy Hinds

A few years before Balboa Park was developed for the 1915-1916 Panama-California Exposition into the world-class recreational and cultural complex San Diegans and tourists know and love today, another nearby institution sprang from the sandy soil to serve the growing population of the area: Jefferson Elementary School. Jefferson celebrated its Centennial on May 28th, 2014 and brought together students, alumni and neighbors to celebrate both the history and the future of the elementary school in the heart of North Park.
